Profile

Pure Spirits Oyster House and Grill is in the Historic Distillery district and this beautiful Edwardian Victorian structure turned into a restaurant is an artistic property on the interior as well as the exterior. The restaurant seats about a 100 guests inside and another 120 on the outdoor patio which is adjacent to one of the largest summer beer gardens in Toronto. It specializes in dishes well prepared from fresh seafood. Pure Spirits always serves oysters from both coasts, France and the U.S.A. Our wines and cocktails are well paired with our style of cuisine. Casual dining attire is always required. Service standards are excellent and fast whether one is visiting the spa, the theatre or even the art galleries which are within a five minute walk of the restaurant. This restaurant exudes a great vibe and great energy that is in limbo with the heartbeat of Toronto. This is definitely one of the must visit spots of the city.

Overpriced pub food

We visited yesterday with your baby, after sticking us in a corner booth in an off-peak period. We waited 15 minutes until we had to inform the hostess that she hadn't told the waiter he had our table. The drinks were overpriced considering the proximity to the brewery and the selection of wines was poor and overpriced. The fish and chips was barely as good as pub food with a tiny portion of fries (the waiter's description - not mine). The salads were grocery quality frisee sloped with non-descript dressing. My wife's beef was dry and heavily salted. Our waiter discouraged us from ordering 2 of the items on the desert menu, so we tried the cherry tart. Big mistake, apparently they use premade pastries and slop some cold straight-from-the-bucket cherries and top it off with some orange and lemon rinds. Everything was overpriced poorer than pub quality food, save your money and head next door to the Mill St Brewery, where they at least know how to do pub properly.
