What is Hart House, anyway?

Hart House is the Student Centre for the St. George Campus and a place where all UofT students, faculty, staff and alumni belong.

When is Hart House open?

Hart House is open from 7:00 AM to Midnight, 365 days a year.

Do I have to pay to use Hart House?

Regular use of Hart House's facilities is completely free for all Student and Members. However, Hart House Clubs and Committees require a $15 fee for membership. Some clubs and committees may require other fees for materials and events, and some athletics classes require a fee to join.

Do you have to be a graduate of the University of Toronto to join Hart House as a Member?

Not necessarily. Membership at Hart House can be obtained by anyone who has completed a minimum of four courses at another university. Special Memberships may also be granted to a candidate sponsored by a current Member in good standing with Hart House. Can we take wedding photos in or around Hart House?

Only those who have booked a reception at Hart House may have wedding photos taken in Hart House. UofT's Office of Space Managementhttp://www.osm.utoronto.ca/ arranges for wedding photos elsewhere on campus. For more information, phone the office at 416.978.2187.

Can I get to the Theatre from within Hart House?

Yes. The Theatre is now accessible from the Elevator. The Theatre is located on the sub-basement level.

The main entrance to the Theatre is located outside at the front of the building. Keep an eye out for the sign reading Hart House Theatre Entrance.

Is Hart House fully accessible to individuals with disabilities?

Most of Hart House is now accessible to individuals with mobility impairment, people with mobility impairments can now accesss all five floors of the House. However, some of the athletic area is still not accessible.

Do you have to be a member of Hart House to book a meeting room?

No, rooms can be rented by the general public, but are subject to availability.
